Designer, stylist and entrepreneur Caroline Rose is a practicing aromatherapist who develops all of the product formulations herself with hand–picked, UK–sourced ingredients and professionally blended essential oils.

Packaged in traditional tins, French glass bottles, and boxes richly decorated with images of deco flapper girls, dancers and show girls, the beautiful range is inspired by a love of all things vintage, romantic and decadently elegant. This gorgeous range will appeal to all ages, as no one will be able to resist the deliciously girly treats that epitomise pure femininity.

When Patricia and Caroline Rose bought an old druggists shop in Yorkshire, they began a project that would grow and develop over several years and become not just a family business but a way of life that would incorporate both their interests and pastimes too. The mother and daughter team are avid collectors of original mahogany fittings, glass cabinets and their beautiful contents, and fascinated by the history of the shop, they began restoring the interior to its former Victorian splendour and a quirky but elegant beauty apothecary was the result.

Wanting a range of products to fit in with the style of the shop, Caroline Rose created Rose & Co. - preparations based on traditional recipes using natural, old-apothecary ingredients. Rose Petal Salve

From Rose & Co, this rose scented salve soothes and smoothes chapped lips, but can also be used for a multitude of other uses. Kate Winslet and Paris Hilton both swear by the pretty pink salve to achieve a subtle pink glow on their lips and cheeks. There seems to be no end to the uses of this magical little balm, the perfect all–rounder from Rose & Co.

To help spread the word we have been dropping invitations through the doors of neighbouring villages. It’s been a delight visiting beautiful houses in the most picturesque villages of Great and Little Ouseburn, Upper and Lower Dunsforth to name but a few.  Ella and I joined the team to meet our customers at first hand.  It was far from the vision  I had of days out enjoying the sunshine - we got totally wet through - typical British summer weather.

We are now very adept at coping with vicious letter boxes, wild cats and ferocious guard dogs. Now I totally appreciate and will never underestimate the role of our friendly postmen. They deserve a pay rise!  So it’s a hot bath to revive weary limbs and tlc for blistered feet and battered hands ….. but you never get any where without hard work!

Where does time go?…. ella georgia opened its doors a year ago on 25th July 2009.  For me it really was a dream come true.  I had talked about taking ella georiga to the high street for a very long time and it was a very big step.  But with the decision taken we had just three weeks to bring it to life - but we did it and what a success.

I have to admit that I was extremely nervous about launching a new outlet on the high street, in what has been one of the hardest financial climates this country has witnessed in a long time.  However our customers have been extremely supportive and very loyal, enabling us to have an extremely successful first year.  So thank you, so so much for supporting us - without you we would not still be here.

It has been such a busy year. Our very own Laura Petyt launched her first collection this winter and is working hard on new pieces for her Autumn 2010 collection.  We introduced over 30 new designers to our collections: Rie Elise Larsen, NV London Calcutta, Bellarina, Hultquist, Jan Milne to name but a few - bringing you the best design talent from both the UK and across the world. In addition to many new designs from our long standing favourite designers.

So what about the future…… We are very excited about the year ahead.  ella georgia will be launching its first clothing range this Autumn ‘The Wardrobe’ with loungewear, and gorgeous lace jackets and dresses and knitwear.

By popular demand we are working hard on a new ‘Boho Chic’ collection for our very first mail order catalogue and looking for the ideal premises for our second boutique. So life at the ella georgia HQ will continue to move at a pace in to 2011 bringing you so much more - ethically sourced jewellery and accessories that will make you both look good and feel good too. So keep your eyes posted for our latest updates.

Ever wondered what to do with your drawer full of silk scarves that you no longer wear, but that are too lovely to throw away.  Well get them all back out - as we have just the answer.

These innovative new scarf belts are the perfect opportunity  to combine a traditional belt front, with a long scarf or length of fabric to create a stunning waist or hip belt.  Simply pass the fabric through both the D - rings then back through a single ring, to hold the material firmly in place. (The amount of fabric passed through the rings will determine the length of the belt, so from a waist belt one day to a hip belt the next simply adjust the size of your belt to suit your outfit!)

Try swopping a long scarf for a square headscarf, rolled on the diagonal - a Hermes scarf would be just perfect! Alternatively try experimenting with a men’s tie or strip of LIBERTY floral fabric - John Lewis have a great to selection to choose from.

A quick trip to your local charity shop, could see you to a new collection of silk scarves for just pennies!
